This 20V MAX* Axial Leaf Blower moves air at up to 320 CFM and 90 MPH for clearing debris on hard or grass surfaces.
Zoom on the Black+Decker BCBL700D1
The Black+Decker BCBL700D1 is a cordless handheld blower that is appropriate for homeowners with properties with limited lawn space, typically less than a quarter acre.
It is rated for a maximum air volume of 320 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and a maximum air speed of 90 miles per hour (MPH). Practically, this means the blower moves small amounts of dry leaves or light yard debris across small yard sections, patios, or driveways with gentle airflow.
With a 20V brushed motor, the BCBL700D1 operates as a fully cordless unit, giving freedom to move around your yard. It includes a 2.0Ah battery, able to deliver up to 10 minutes of runtime on a full charge.
Featuring 2 speed settings, the BCBL700D1 offers users flexibility in adjusting airflow.
At 2.9 lbs (bare tool) and 3.8 lbs with the battery, the blower’s handheld design lets the operator lift and aim it with one hand.
The Black+Decker BCBL700D1's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 compare with handheld leaf blowers of similar voltage (between 18 and 24V).
- At only 2.9 lbs (bare tool), the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 offers a lighter option within the cordless handheld blowers in the 18 to 24V range. Should weight be a deciding factor, the Worx WG543 is worth a look at just 2.3 lbs the bare tool.
- The air speed of the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 maxes out at 90 MPH. While more than adequate for many jobs, its air speed is below average among other battery-operated handheld blowers between 18 and 24V. For the fastest air speed in this category, you may want to consider the Makita XBU07SM1, which can expell air at a velocity that can reach 143 MPH.
- Its air volume, rated at 320 CFM, is typical among cordless handheld blowers with a comparable voltage. If air volume is important to you, the Dewalt DCBL724W1, with 550 CFM, could be in your good books.
- Autonomy-wise, with up to 10 minutes of autonomy on a full charge, the BCBL700D1 is on the low end when compared with other cordless handheld units of similar voltage. To enjoy the best possible autonomy in this category, you could have a look at the Ryobi PBLLB01K which offers up to 60 minutes of runtime.
- While runtime is an important metric, it is closely tied to battery capacity. To understand performance more clearly, it’s also useful to look at runtime efficiency, how long the unit runs relative to its battery size. With its current setup, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 offers a lower level of runtime efficiency compared to the other compared battery-powered handheld models. If you are focused on getting more use per charge, the Ryobi ONE+ SWEEPER P2102 offers the highest runtime efficiency, at 1.28 minutes per Wh.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 18-24V cordless blowers, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 is on the cheap side of the price range.
It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget blower.
The bottom line
- Inexpensive
- Light bare tool weight (2.9 lbs)
- Decent CFM (320 CFM)
- Brushed motor
- Low MPH (90 MPH)
- Low autonomy (10 mins)
- Low power efficiency

User Reviews
We have tried two of these units; each time performing the same. They are a nice weight but you can only run two cycles of 10 minutes each with two different fully charged 1.5AH batteries. After two such 10 minute cycles; we tried a fully charged 3.0AH and it wouldn’t run at all. There must be a high temperature control switch that kicks in to kill the electric motor. The outside air temperature was 22 degrees Celsius at the time we were using the BCBL700D1 20V B & D Axial blower.
For the price you can not beat this blower, it is not a sweeper as B&D call their 100cfm machines. At 320cfm this machine blows and spreads my mulched grass clipping left behind from the mower wheels into the cut lawn to where you can not even see the clippings! It cleans my walkways, driveway and patios with no problems at all. I get those aggravating pinwheel maple leaf’s (or is it oak?) in my driveway and it blows them away along with small sticks and branches, with no effort at all ! They give you a 20V 2.0AH battery with the unit, which is ok if your job does not last longer then 10 minutes, but I also have two B&D 20V 4AH batteries and one B&D 20V 2.5AH battery, so time it takes to do my yard is no issue at all. Considering the price, you are getting value and performance, now if I can get 5 years out of it, I will consider the quality to be well above average!
