Description
This 20V MAX* Axial Leaf Blower moves air at up to 320 CFM and 90 MPH for clearing debris on hard or grass surfaces.
Zoom on the Black+Decker BCBL700D1
With its cordless handheld design, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 is appropriate for homeowners with a small outdoor space such as a patio, driveway, or yard under about a quarter acre.
It provides a maximum air volume rating of 320 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and an air speed of up to 90 miles per hour (MPH). To put it simply, it handles a limited amount of leaves and debris on a small lawn or garden area, suitable for light, occasional clearing.
Equipped with a 20V brushed motor, the unit operates on battery power for untethered use. One 2.0Ah battery is included, and should provide up to 10 minutes of runtime when fully charged.
Thanks to its 2 speed settings, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 allows the user to adjust the air output to the task in hand.
At 2.9 lbs (bare tool) and 3.8 lbs with the battery, the blower’s handheld design lets the operator lift and aim it with one hand.
The Black+Decker BCBL700D1's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 compare with handheld leaf blowers of similar voltage (between 18 and 24V).
- Weighing only 2.9 lbs as a bare tool, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 is on the lighter side compared with many cordless handheld blowers in the 18 to 24V range. Should weight be a deciding factor, the Worx WG543 is worth a look at just 2.3 lbs the bare tool.
- At full power, this blower maxes out at 90 MPH, placing it on the lower end in terms of air speed for battery-operated handheld blowers between 18 and 24V. For the fastest air speed in this category, you may want to consider the Makita XBU07SM1, which can expell air at a velocity that can reach 143 MPH.
- At 320 CFM, the BCBL700D1's air volume output is typical for cordless handheld blowers with a comparable voltage. If air volume is important to you, the Dewalt DCBL724W1, with 550 CFM, could be in your good books.
- Autonomy-wise, with up to 10 minutes of autonomy on a full charge, the BCBL700D1 is on the low end when compared with other cordless handheld units of similar voltage. To enjoy the best possible autonomy in this category, you could have a look at the Ryobi PBLLB01K which offers up to 60 minutes of runtime.
- Because larger batteries naturally increase runtime, it can be helpful to consider runtime efficiency, a measure of how effectively a blower uses the energy available. The Black+Decker BCBL700D1 shows relatively low runtime efficiency, providing fewer minutes of operation for each unit of battery power. If you are focused on getting more use per charge, the Sun Joe 24V-JB-LTE offers the highest runtime efficiency, at 1.04 minutes per Wh.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 18-24V cordless blowers, the Black+Decker BCBL700D1 is on the average side of the price range.
Therefore, this blower nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.
The bottom line
- In the expected price range
- Light bare tool weight (2.9 lbs)
- Decent CFM (320 CFM)
- Brushed motor
- Low MPH (90 MPH)
- Low autonomy (10 mins)

User Reviews
We have tried two of these units; each time performing the same. They are a nice weight but you can only run two cycles of 10 minutes each with two different fully charged 1.5AH batteries. After two such 10 minute cycles; we tried a fully charged 3.0AH and it wouldn’t run at all. There must be a high temperature control switch that kicks in to kill the electric motor. The outside air temperature was 22 degrees Celsius at the time we were using the BCBL700D1 20V B & D Axial blower.
For the price you can not beat this blower, it is not a sweeper as B&D call their 100cfm machines. At 320cfm this machine blows and spreads my mulched grass clipping left behind from the mower wheels into the cut lawn to where you can not even see the clippings! It cleans my walkways, driveway and patios with no problems at all. I get those aggravating pinwheel maple leaf’s (or is it oak?) in my driveway and it blows them away along with small sticks and branches, with no effort at all ! They give you a 20V 2.0AH battery with the unit, which is ok if your job does not last longer then 10 minutes, but I also have two B&D 20V 4AH batteries and one B&D 20V 2.5AH battery, so time it takes to do my yard is no issue at all. Considering the price, you are getting value and performance, now if I can get 5 years out of it, I will consider the quality to be well above average!
