Zoom on the EGO LB6504

The EGO LB6504 in use

The EGO LB6504

The EGO LB6504 is a cordless handheld blower that is best suited to homeowners with a typical home yard ranging from about a quarter to half an acre.

Its maximum output is 650 CFM of air volume and 180 MPH of air speed. These values mean that it should manage everyday yard leaves rather efficiently, but also have the power to handle denser material or small piles of heavier debris across lawns, patios, and garden paths.

A 56V brushless motor powers the LB6504, which operates fully cordless for versatile handling. It is supplied with a 5.0Ah battery which can offer up to 90 minutes of runtime per charge.

For those who wish to have complete control while operating their leaf blower, the LB6504 offers variable speed settings and a turbo button, and moreover, is also equipped with cruise control, which allows the user to comfortably continue blowing at their preferred setting.

This cordless handheld blower weighs 4.77 lbs without the battery and 9.7 lbs with it, enabling one-handed control of airflow.

The EGO LB6504's performance versus other blowers

The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the EGO LB6504 compare with handheld leaf blowers of similar voltage (between 56 and 60V).

Important: All figures are based on published specifications. Because manufacturers may test at different power levels or under different conditions, use the autonomy/runtime efficiency figures as a guideline only.
  • At just 4.77 lbs (bare tool), the EGO LB6504 ranks among the lighter cordless handheld blowers in the 56 to 60V range before adding the battery. Should weight be a deciding factor, the EGO LB7654 is worth a look at just 4.6 lbs the bare tool.
  • Upon exiting the nozzle, the air can reach speeds of up to 180 MPH, which is rather impressive for a battery-operated handheld blower between 56 and 60V. If you wish to benefit from air expelled at the fastest possible speed, the EGO LB8803-2 and its 200 MPH could be an option to consider.
  • At 650 CFM, the LB6504's air volume output is typical for cordless handheld blowers with a comparable voltage. If air volume is important to you, the EGO LBX1000, with 1000 CFM, could be in your good books.
  • The LB6504 is within the average range for cordless handheld units that operate between 56 and 60V, offering up to 90 minutes of running time when fully charged. If autonomy is an important factor for you, the Echo DPB-2610 can run for up to 175 minutes and could be worth considering.
  • Runtime alone doesn’t always tell the full story because it depends heavily on battery capacity. Runtime efficiency can give a clearer picture by showing how much work you get per unit of battery power. At its measured figures, the EGO LB6504 provides an average runtime efficiency, similar to many battery-powered handheld blowers. If runtime efficiency matters most to you, you might look at the Echo DPB-2500, which delivers a higher runtime efficiency of 0.64 minutes per Wh.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 56-60V cordless blowers, the EGO LB6504 is on the average side of the price range.

Therefore, this blower nicely fits in the expected budget for this kind of product.

POWER+ Battery Technology

EGO's POWER+ technology is based on a high-end patented ARC Lithium™ design which utilizes a third row of cells to achieve high-voltage performance. Combined with a revolutionary phase-change material which envelopes each cell, the arc-design of the cell's arrangement allows for more efficient cooling and an optimum power distribution across all rows of cells. This technology also embeds a patented power management system that monitors and optimizes each individual battery cell to maximize its power, performance, and runtime. Moreover, the battery casing is completely sealed and has an enhanced shock and weather resistivity. Thus, the battery is protected from drops, rain and the elements.

When my gas powered Weedeater brand blower quit and would not restart 2 days in a row, I decided it was time to ditch my very LAST gas powered yard tool. I wanted to be sure I selected a battery powered blower that was at least as powerful as the Weedeater. After extensive on-line research, I decided on the Ego 6504. The CFM rating as well as the MPH velocity exceeds the Weedeater, and I am delighted with the performance. After salvaging the strap for use with the Ego, I trashed it. I do wish it had a longer battery life however.
