Description
Zoom on the EGO LBPX1100
With its cordless backpack design, the EGO LBPX1100 is a good match for both homeowners with larger home grounds ranging from half-acre lawns to multi-acre estates, and professionals handling large-scale landscaping jobs.
It sports a max air speed of 180 MPH and a max air volume rating of 1100 cubic feet per minute (CFM). In practice, it should move both scattered leaves and larger piles across yard areas, while also clearing heavier debris such as acorns, pine cones, or pine needles on patios or driveways.
With a 56V brushless motor, the LBPX1100 functions as a cordless blower, offering freedom of movement. EGO claims that it can deliver power of a 65-cc gas backpack blower. With two 12.0Ah 56V Li-ion batteries (BA6720T batteries (opens in a new tab) not included), the EGO LBPX1100 has a standard, full-charge run time of up to 240 minutes. While the unit can operate off of one or two batteries, using two batteries gives you a longer run time and a more efficient power draw.
There are times when you only need a little more power, while other times you will want a bit more precision when clearing leaves and debris. For this purpose, the LBPX1100 offers variable speed settings, adding you, the user, more control, and a cruise control mode, which will allow you to maintain it comfortably for as long as you wish.
This cordless backpack blower weighs 20.7 lbs and carries most of its weight on the back, so the user only supports the tube with one hand. When using a BA6720T battery, the total weight of the blower reaches around 25.6 lbs. Its throttle is located on the tube, which allows to keep the left hand free.
The EGO LBPX1100 carries an IPX5 rating, which protects it from low-pressure water jets, handy when clearing wet leaves or working near sprinklers.
The EGO LBPX1100's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the EGO LBPX1100 compare with other cordless backpack leaf blowers.
- As far as cordless backpack blowers in the 56 to 60V range go, the EGO LBPX1100 tips the scales on the heavier side at 20.7 lbs. To enjoy the lowest possible weight in this category, you could have a look at the Greenworks BPB60L512 which is only 9.4 lbs the bare tool.
- With a rated maximum air speed of 180 MPH, this blower falls within the expected range for battery-operated backpack blowers. If you wish to benefit from air expelled at the fastest possible speed, the Senix BLBX6-M and its 200 MPH could be an option to consider.
- With an airflow rating of 1100 CFM (cubic feet per minute), the LBPX1100 stands out with the highest CFM among cordless backpack blowers with a comparable voltage.
- The longevity of this model’s battery is notably higher than most cordless backpack units. It offers an autonomy of up to 240 minutes. If autonomy is an important factor for you, the Toro Revolution 66100 can run for up to 330 minutes and could be worth considering.
- While runtime is an important metric, it is closely tied to battery capacity. To understand performance more clearly, it’s also useful to look at runtime efficiency, how long the unit runs relative to its battery size. The EGO LBPX1100 delivers a typical level of runtime efficiency, offering a balanced amount of operation time per unit of battery capacity. If runtime efficiency matters most to you, you might look at the EGO LB6003, which delivers a higher runtime efficiency of 0.43 minutes per Wh.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other 56-60V cordless backpack blowers, the EGO LBPX1100 is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it could most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.
