Zoom on the Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF
The Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF is a gas handheld blower that is best suited to homeowners with a yard that is generally under a quarter acre, where upkeep is light and occasional.
It provides a maximum air volume rating of 393 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and an air speed of up to 180 miles per hour (MPH). To put it simply, it combines strong airflow to move piles of leaves in the yard with enough force to clear heavier material such as pine needles or acorns from patios and walkways.
A 25-cc 2-stroke engine powers the Tanaka THB-260PF, which needs a 50:1 fuel-to-oil mixture. With a 20.3 fl. oz. fuel tank, this gas handheld blower has the largest tank among its peers.
With its variable speed settings, the Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF allows you to precisely control its air output. In addition, the blower is also equipped with cruise control, with which the user can easily maintain the selected settings.
This gas handheld blower weighs 10.9 lbs (dry) and can be steered with one hand for focused debris removal.
Equipped with a vacuum function, the Tanaka THB-260PF doubles as a leaf collector, depositing leaves into an attached bag (THV-260 (opens in a new tab) bag not included). In addition to sucking up leaves, the unit’s mulching ratio of 14:1 can compress 14 bags of foliage into just one bag of mulch while vacuuming.
The Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF compare with similar leaf blowers.
- Weighing 10.9 lbs, the Hitachi Tanaka THB-260PF is comparable in weight to most gas-powered handheld blowers. Should weight be a deciding factor, the Stihl BG 50 is worth a look at just 7.9 lbs.
- Its max air speed of 180 MPH places it at the approximate midpoint in comparison to other gas-powered handheld blowers. If you wish to benefit from air expelled at the fastest possible speed, the Poulan Pro PPBV25 and its 230 MPH could be an option to consider.
- Its max air volume rating (393 cubic feet per minute) means it is really not the biggest air producer of gas-powered handheld blowers. For the highest air volume, you may want to have a look at the Ryobi JET FAN RY25AXB, which boasts with 520 CFM.
The bottom line
- Large tank (20.3 fl. oz.)
- Cruise control
- Decent weight (10.9 lbs)
- Decent MPH (180 MPH)
- Leaf collection bag not included
- Low CFM (393 CFM)
