Description
A lightweight backpack blower designed for commercial use. At 632 CFM and 232 MPH this machine has the air volume to move heavy debris and the speed to lift wet leaves and compacted sand. For added comfort and convenience, the EBZ6500RH is designed with a tube mounted throttle. The Strato-Charged engine reduces fuel consumption by up to 20% while providing more torque over a wider RPM range.
Overview of the RedMax EBZ6500RH
- Power: The EBZ6500RH gas-powered blower, manufactured by RedMax, is rated for a max air volume of 631 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and a max air speed of 232 MPH.
- Handling: By design, this model isn’t the smallest leaf blower on the market. It’s meant to be carried as a backpack so that the bulk of the unit is out of the way and the user’s hands are free to manipulate the nozzle. Its throttle is located on the tube, which allows you to keep your left hand free. The RedMax EBZ6500RH weighs 22.5 lbs, placing it within the average weight range for gas-powered backpack blowers, neither the lightest nor the heaviest in its category.
- Engine: Its Strato-Charged® engine boasts a displacement of 65.6cc. Since this is a 2-stroke engine, it’s important to remember that the EBZ6500RH cannot run on gasoline alone. The fuel must be mixed with an appropriate ratio of gasoline and oil in order for it to function properly (for this RedMax model, this ratio is 50:1).
- Speed Settings: The RedMax EBZ6500RH features customizable airflow through its variable speed settings and effortless speed maintenance with built-in cruise control.
- Noise: As far as gas-powered backpack blowers go, this one is average in terms of noise with a rating of 97.1 dB.
- Fuel Tank: Its tank can hold 71 fluid ounces, so it falls squarely in the average in terms of fuel capacity for backpack blowers.
The RedMax EBZ6500RH's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the RedMax EBZ6500RH compare with similar leaf blowers.
- Forced air exiting this blower has been clocked at a maximum speed of 232 MPH, positioning the EBZ6500RH at the forefront in terms of air velocity among gas-powered backpack blowers. If you wish to benefit from air expelled at the fastest possible speed, the Husqvarna 150BT and its 270 MPH could be an option to consider.
- As this unit is rated at 631 CFM (cubic feet per minute), it expells less air than most gas-powered backpack blowers. For the highest air volume, you may want to have a look at the Husqvarna 590BTS, which boasts with 1245 CFM.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other gas backpack blowers, the RedMax EBZ6500RH is on the expensive side of the price range.
While certainly not the cheapest of its kind, purchasing it could most likely also mean enjoying the reliability of a high-end product.
Strato-Charged Engine Technology

RedMax's Strato-Charged 2-stroke engines are efficiently designed with just 3 moving parts. This allows them to be up to 20% more fuel-efficient than standard 2-stroke engines, to be 20 to 25% lighter than 4-stroke engines of the same size, and to produce low emissions that meet regulations without the need for a heated, heavy catalytic converter. Offering much less operator fatigue, these engines have a high power to weight ratio and can therefore be classified as high-performance.
The bottom line
- Cruise control
- Strato-Charged® Engine
- High MPH (232 MPH)
- Decent weight (22.5 lbs)
- Decent tank (71 fl. oz.)
- Acceptable noise (97.1 dB)
- On the expensive side
- Low CFM (631 CFM)
About RedMax
RedMax is an established power equipment brand in North America, known for its trimmers, chainsaws and, of course, leaf blowers. Interestingly, the company traces its roots back to Japan, where it was founded in 1910 as the Tokyo Gas Kogyo Company. TGCK went through numerous name changes and settled with the names Komatsu Zenoah (globally) and RedMax/Zenoah (North America), under which they sell their products to this day. The company was acquired by Husqvarna in 2007. RedMax has a somewhat extensive portfolio of more than 10 leaf blowers, both backpack and handheld, and has recently launched a battery powered product line. RedMax products are produced in various plants over the globe, which are not limited to Japan.
