Questions & Answers

Like everyone else mine exploded with the plastic fins flying everywhere. I feel stupid for buying a Ryobi.
Bought this in 2018 and probably only used it 20 times in 3 years because I had another battery-powered blower. Started it the other day and let run for a few minutes while I got hearing protection. Suddenly it shut off and I went to pull the rope and it wouldn’t budge. Took the rope starter assembly off thinking it was jammed, only to find out the crankshaft wouldn’t turn by hand and I heard a rattling sound inside the engine, so I can only assume the piston rod broke. I only ever ran this on pre-mix canned gas. What a POS… One month out of warranty too.
Bought the RY25AXB Dec. 2017 and it quit working July 2021 with minimal residential use (burned maybe 2.5 gallons of gas total). Warranty is for three years but I guess $119 really is not that much to throw away. I kind of glad it quit as it was extremely loud and the vibration caused me to have to change hands frequently because of pain ( always wondered if it accelerated arthritis in might right hand). Because of this experience I’ll probably never buy another Ryobi product. I’ll take it apart to see what failed and it can be a science fair project for a grandkid.
Very pleased with the jet fan blower untill the blower section failed. If Ryobe does not have a simple fix for it, this would make the design useless to the diy, crowd, which is the American buyer.T A Holaday
I bought this blower about a year and a half ago. Used it normally (weekly lawn cuts, fall and spring cleanups, winterized during winter). This weekend, while I was using it, it started making loud noises, black shards of plastic came flying out and within seconds it froze up. After further inspection the shards of plastic were from the internal turbine fans. Not even sure how they could all come apart during use. When I went online, I saw that this was common in their electric version of the blower. Seems awful quality to me when I really only used it about once per week. Can’t imagine this working over a long summer with daily use.
Called Ryobi support and they said there is nothing they can do but I was more than welcome to bring it to a nearby service repair shop (at my cost). Not happy….
