4-Mix Engine Technology
Stihl's 4-Mix engine combines the advantages of 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines. This award-winning 4-stroke engine runs on a mix of gasoline and oil (1:50). For this to happen, the gasoline-oil mix enters the cylinder head through a bypass channel in order to offer full lubrication, which avoids the need for parts like an oil pump, sump or tank (which are compulsory for traditional 4-stroke engines). Therefore, there is no oil servicing to do (easy maintenance), the leaf blower is lighter (due to fewer parts) and its overall noise is lower. Additionally, all 4-MIX engines are fitted with a system that considerably reduces the effort needed to pull the starter rope.

Got one in February 2019,only used it for about 4 month as I do not need it in the Summer, had always problem starting, needed at least 6 to 8 pulls and when it was cold up to 20 pulls, had it in the shop 3 times when they put on a new carburetor, still under warranty, helped some what, still problems starting, and now the recoil broke.Don’t think I by another Stihl ,maybe try some other brands.I do not recommend this one. However,it does have great power.
The weight of the blower is well distributed and being 2-3 pounds lighter than other similar backpacks means my wife or I can use it easily for an hour on several acres we maintain. It can blow 2″ gravel like its sand and deep leaves go 20 feet. We will never need to rake again. I didnt know about the 4 stroke until now, its very light and grunts, meaning you can set 20% throttle and tap the trigger when you need the boost. that makes it more quiet and not having the high pitch 2stroke whine. its VERY well thought out. it is thirstier than our 15hp mower per hour, but that means its even lighter, burning off the fuel. Im very very happy with ours. didnt have trouble starting it. It does use 89+ octane with mix, and it has a winter slide under the air filter that we will need to use if there is snow to blow. Again, @240mph, and 912cfm we will never touch a shovel again. it can lift an 8″ round, 2″ thick rock and move it away at full throttle. Stihl quality is worth the price. dont stop part of the way there. and it has residual value too if you sell your property.
