Description

Zoom on the Toro 66100

The Toro 66100 in use

The Toro 66100

The Toro 66100 is a cordless backpack blower that is suited for homeowners with a residential property with medium to large lawns, often half an acre to several acres, and landscaping professionals who maintain several properties.

It is rated for a maximum air volume of 730 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and a maximum air speed of 160 miles per hour (MPH). To put it simply, it combines strong airflow to move piles of leaves in the yard with enough force to clear heavier material such as pine needles or acorns from patios and walkways.

Equipped with a 60V brushless motor, the unit operates on battery power for untethered use. The Toro 66100 is exclusively powered by Toro's Revolution backpack power unit. It has space for up to two high capacity batteries, and only accepts 60V Flex-Force battery packs. When using two 66810 batteries, which are not included with the unit, the blower can provide a whopping maximum of 330 minutes of runtime.

With its variable speed settings and turbo button, the Toro 66100 allows you to precisely control its air output. In addition, the blower is also equipped with cruise control, with which the user can easily maintain the selected settings.

This backpack blower consists of two parts: the Revolution backpack (explained above) and what Toro calls the "Cannon", which is nothing more than the blower itself. It tips the scales at 17.4 lbs without any battery. Note that this weight represents the combined weight of the Revolution backpack (9.3 lbs) and the Cannon (8.1 lbs).

The Toro 66100's performance versus other blowers

The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Toro 66100 compare with other cordless backpack leaf blowers.

Important: All figures are based on published specifications. Because manufacturers may test at different power levels or under different conditions, use the autonomy/runtime efficiency figures as a guideline only. Runtime and efficiency values are based on the use with two 66810 batteries.
  • At 17.4 lbs, the Toro 66100 sits at the upper end of the weight range for cordless backpack blowers in the 56 to 60V range. To enjoy the lowest possible weight in this category, you could have a look at the Greenworks BPB60L512 which is only 9.4 lbs the bare tool.
  • Upon exiting the nozzle, the air can reach speeds of up to 160 MPH, which is on the lower end for battery-operated backpack blowers. For the fastest air speed in this category, you may want to consider the Senix BLBX6-M, which can expell air at a velocity that can reach 200 MPH.
  • Its max air volume rating (730 cubic feet per minute) means it is really not the biggest air producer of cordless backpack blowers with a comparable voltage. For the highest air volume, you may want to have a look at the EGO LBPX1100, which boasts with 1100 CFM.
  • The 66100's battery longevity stands out as exceptional among cordless backpack units, providing an autonomy of up to 330 minutes.
  • The Toro 66100 stands out for its high runtime efficiency, making effective use of its battery capacity to extend operation time. If runtime efficiency matters most to you, you might look at the EGO LB6003, which delivers a higher runtime efficiency of 0.43 minutes per Wh.

Price comparison

As you can see from these interactive charts, the Toro 66100 is the cheapest of all 56-60V cordless backpack blowers.

It can therefore be a really good buy if you're looking to acquire a budget blower.
