Description
The Troy-Bilt TB400 Gas Leaf Blower offers the convenience and power you desire. The 25cc, 2-cycle gas engine is lightweight and powerful with air speeds up to 180 mph and clearing power of up to 400 cubic feet per minute (cfm). The TB400 comes with SpringAssist™ technology for faster and easier pull starts and its variable speed throttle allows for better handling and greater control over blowing performance. For comfortably blowing leaves and debris from yards and hard surfaces.
Zoom on the Troy-Bilt TB400
With its gas handheld design, the Troy-Bilt TB400 is mostly aimed at homeowners with a small outdoor space such as a patio, driveway, or yard under about a quarter acre.
It is rated for a maximum air volume of 400 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and a maximum air speed of 180 miles per hour (MPH). Practically, this means the blower should handle large amounts of leaves across yards, patios, or driveways while also having enough speed to move damp leaves, acorns, or small twigs.
The TB400 features a 25-cc 2-stroke engine and runs on a 40:1 fuel-to-oil mixture. The Troy-Bilt TB400 benefits from the proprietary SpringAssist™ starting system, which allows the operator to start the leaf blower with a slow and steady pull on the starter rope to greatly reduce the pulling effort needed. It features a fuel tank of 14 fluid ounces, consistent with many other gas handheld blowers.
Thanks to its variable speed settings, the Troy-Bilt TB400 allows precise control of the air output.
With a dry weight of 10 lbs, this gas handheld unit can be guided with one hand to clear specific areas.
The Troy-Bilt TB400's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Troy-Bilt TB400 compare with similar leaf blowers.
- Among other gas-powered handheld blowers, the Troy-Bilt TB400 has a typical weight of 10 lbs. Should weight be a deciding factor, the Stihl BG 50 is worth a look at just 7.9 lbs.
- With a rated maximum air speed of 180 MPH, this blower falls within the expected range for gas-powered handheld blowers. If you wish to benefit from air expelled at the fastest possible speed, the Poulan Pro PPBV25 and its 230 MPH could be an option to consider.
- Its max air volume rating (400 cubic feet per minute) means it is really not the biggest air producer of gas-powered handheld blowers. For the highest air volume, you may want to have a look at the Ryobi JET FAN RY25AXB, which boasts with 520 CFM.
Price comparison
As you can see from these interactive charts, when compared to other gas handheld blowers, the Troy-Bilt TB400 is on the cheap side of the price range.

User Reviews
I bought this TB400 in May of this year. I have used it a total of five hours. Starting this device is fairly simplistic and straight forward. At about the five hour use mark, at the next intended use, the pull cord had already frayed and broke from the fly wheel, negating any future use until the pull cord can be replaced.
From the Troy Bilt web, supply chain issues might delay the delivery of this part to the place of original purchase for the anticipated warranty replacement work to be done.
Not a Happy camper, since Troy Bilt was rated above other like devices from other companies.
I just got this leaf blower, I like it. I already have a Husqvarna leaf blower but wanted a blower for our vacation home. Comparing this Troy-Bilt TB400 to my Husqvarna: The Husqvarna is a bit lighter (9.6 lbs vs 10 lbs) and a wee bit quieter but cost $149 compared to the Troy-Bilt at $90. The Troy-Bilt has plenty of blowing power, starts easy so I would say it’s a great value.
