The Worx WG550
With its cordless handheld design, the Worx WG550 is a good match for homeowners with residential properties where lawns or gardens fall between a quarter and half an acre.
It is capable of expelling a maximum air volume of 620 cubic feet per minute (CFM). Its air speed is rated at 175 miles per hour (MPH). In practice, it should move both scattered leaves and larger piles across yard areas, while also clearing heavier debris such as acorns, pine cones, or pine needles on patios or driveways.
The WG550 is equipped with a 20V brushless motor and runs on battery power, enabling mobility without a cord. It comes with one 5.0Ah battery which can provide up to 35 minutes of runtime on a full charge.
Users seeking ease of use will appreciate the WG550's variable speed settings for precise airflow adjustment and cruise control for consistent operation.
Weighing 2.6 lbs as a bare tool and 4.2 lbs with the battery, the handheld design allows the operator to control airflow with one hand.

The Worx WG550's performance versus other blowers
The following charts are provided to give you an idea how the key specs of the Worx WG550 compare with handheld leaf blowers of similar voltage (between 18 and 24V).
- At only 2.6 lbs (bare tool), the Worx WG550 offers a lighter option within the cordless handheld blowers in the 18 to 24V range. Should weight be a deciding factor, the Worx WG543 is worth a look at just 2.3 lbs the bare tool.
- Forced air exiting this blower has been clocked at a max speed of 175 MPH. This places the WG550 at the forefront in terms of air speed among battery-operated handheld blowers between 18 and 24V.
- Regarding its air volume, the Worx WG550 boasts an impressive airflow that can reach 620 CFM (Cubic Foot per Minute). This makes it one of the most powerful cordless handheld blowers with a comparable voltage.
- The WG550 boasts a battery life that exceeds many, offering superb longevity compared to other cordless handheld units. Users can enjoy up to 35 minutes of uninterrupted operation. If autonomy is an important factor for you, the Ryobi PBLLB01K can run for up to 60 minutes and could be worth considering.
- While runtime is an important metric, it is closely tied to battery capacity. To understand performance more clearly, it’s also useful to look at runtime efficiency, how long the unit runs relative to its battery size. Runtime efficiency for the Worx WG550 sits comfortably in the middle of the range for battery-powered handheld blowers. If runtime efficiency matters most to you, you might look at the Sun Joe 24V-JB-LTE, which delivers a higher runtime efficiency of 1.04 minutes per Wh.
