Feel, Fuel & Noise

As the Stihl BG 86 and the Husqvarna 125B do not share the same manufacturer, their overall build and technology in use can vary.

  • These two products are handheld blowers and therefore provide you with superior mobility.
  • gas-powered blowers, both products offer a dependable power source that can be refilled quickly, allowing you the mobility to cover extensive outdoor spaces without interruption.
  • At 9.7 lbs compared with 9.4 lbs for the Husqvarna 125B, the weight difference is minimal, so either option should feel nearly the same in day-to-day use.
  • The Husqvarna 125B emits noise at 94 dB, markedly louder than the 70 dB of the Stihl BG 86. As a result, using the latter will be noticeably gentler on your ears and less likely to disrupt your neighbors.

CFM & MPH

  • In contrast, the Husqvarna 125B, with its CFM of 425, outperforms the 365 CFM of the Stihl BG 86, making it the preferred option for efficiently blowing leaves away.
  • The Stihl BG 86, with an MPH of 190, modestly outpaces the 170 MPH of the Husqvarna 125B, ensuring slightly quicker air expulsion for more efficient leaf blowing and debris lifting.

Engine specs

  • The Husqvarna 125B features a larger fuel tank, offering 16.91 fl.oz. compared to the 14.9 fl.oz. of the Stihl BG 86. As a result, you have the advantage of storing more fuel, potentially extending runtime, assuming similar fuel consumption rates for their engines.
  • In comparison, the Stihl BG 86's engine displacement of 27.2 cc is slightly surpassed by the 28 cc of the Husqvarna 125B. This indicates that the latter may consume marginally more fuel per stroke, potentially resulting in slightly greater power output. Both of these leaf blowers are equipped with 2-stroke engines, meaning they require an oil/fuel mix for operation.

Other features

  • In contrast to the Husqvarna 125B, the Stihl BG 86 doubles as a leaf vacuum – offering a convenient and tidier approach to leaf disposal, particularly when faced with large piles of leaves.

  1. You can purchase a kit for the BG 86 blower that allows it to turn into a leaf vacuum, basically turning it into the SH86

  2. Excellent info. I bought the Stihl, and use Stihl fuel instead of standard gas/oil mix.My second choice was the Husqvarna, except the Stihl has a better local dealer.
