Common specs comparison
Make & handling
- As the BR 500 and the BR 600 are both Stihl blowers, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail. Both products have their throttle located on the tube of the blower, which allows you to keep your left hand free.
- These two products are constructed as backpack blowers, allowing you to comfortably carry their powerful engines and massive fuel tanks.
- Both products are gas-powered blowers - gas is a reliable power source which you can refill in a matter of seconds.
CFM & MPH
- In comparison, the Stihl BR 600, with a CFM of 677, beats the 544 CFM of the Stihl BR 500, making it the superior landscaping tool of the two, when it comes to the amount of leaves that can be blown per minute.
- The Stihl BR 600's MPH of 238 beats the 207 MPH of the Stihl BR 500. It therefore expels air faster and should aid you blowing leaves on grass or lifting heavy debris (acorns, etc.) and wet leaves more effectively.
Weight & Noise rating
- The weight of the Stihl BR 500, which is 22.3 lbs, slightly exceeds the 21.6 lbs of the Stihl BR 600, and will therefore require you to carry around slightly more weight.
- The Stihl BR 600's noise rating of 75 dB exceeds the 65 dB of the Stihl BR 500. Therefore, the Stihl BR 500 will be easier on your (and your neighbor's) ears.
Engine specs comparison
- Both devices have an identical fuel tank size of 47.3 fl.oz. They will therefore require you to refill them at roughly same rates.
- These two products have an identical engine displacement of 64.8cc. Thus, they consume comparable amounts of fuel per stroke and will provide you with similar output.
- The leaf blowers have a 4-cycle engine. Both feature a Stihl 4-Mix engine design though, and therefore require an oil/fuel mix.
Other features comparison
Vacuum ability
Neither the Stihl BR 500 nor the Stihl BR 600 has the ability to vacuum leaves. Thus, you will require another method of leaf collection.

So can’t I tweak my 500 to have a higher rpm?
If the engines are identical, how does the 600 have higher performance? Different blower fan? Housing? Timing? ???
The BR600 has a higher operating RPM than the BR500 (7200 rpm vs 5500 rpm).
