Common specs comparison
Make & handling
- As the BR 700 and the BR 700 X are both Stihl blowers, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail. Both products have their throttle located on the tube of the blower, which allows you to keep your left hand free.
- These two products are constructed as backpack blowers, allowing you to comfortably carry their powerful engines and massive fuel tanks.
- Both products are gas-powered blowers - gas is a reliable power source which you can refill in a matter of seconds.
CFM & MPH
- The Stihl BR 700 with a CFM of 912 slightly exceeds the 901 CFM of the Stihl BR 700 X. Thus, in comparison, you may find that the former is able to move more leaves per minute.
- The Stihl BR 700 with an MPH of 197 slightly exceeds the 193 MPH of the Stihl BR 700 X. Thus, in comparison, the former expels air at a slightly higher speed, and should do a better job at blowing leaves on grass or lifting wet leaves and debris (acorns, etc.).
Weight & Noise rating
- The weight of the Stihl BR 700, which is 23.4 lbs, slightly exceeds the 23 lbs of the Stihl BR 700 X, and will therefore require you to carry around slightly more weight.
- Both devices have a noise rating of 75 dB. They should therefore be equally demanding on the ears.
Engine specs comparison
- Both devices have an identical fuel tank size of 47.3 fl.oz. They will therefore require you to refill them at roughly same rates.
- These two products have an identical engine displacement of 64.8cc. Thus, they consume comparable amounts of fuel per stroke and will provide you with similar output.
- The leaf blowers have a 4-cycle engine. Both feature a Stihl 4-Mix engine design though, and therefore require an oil/fuel mix.
Other features comparison
Vacuum ability
Neither the Stihl BR 700 nor the Stihl BR 700 X has the ability to vacuum leaves. Thus, you will require another method of leaf collection.

Not a comparison, but question: what the oil to gas ratio?
It sounds like it has a escaping muffler. Where do I take it? It’s only 3 months old.
Oil/gas ratio for the BR 700 is 1:50. To service your unit, you may refer to this page (opens in a new tab) to find your nearest Stihl dealer.
I would get the 700X. Even though it is a little bit less powerful, its not enough to make a difference. What does make a difference is that it is half a pound lighter. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but if you are going to have this thing on your back for hours on end, it helps.
