Stihl BR 700 X vs BR 700 - The Differences
Feel, Fuel & Noise
As the BR 700 and the BR 700 X are both Stihl blowers, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail.
- Manufactured as backpack blowers, these two products are equipped with large engines and spacious fuel tanks, offering comfortable carrying while you work. You'll find the throttle positioned on the tube of both products, ensuring that your left hand remains unoccupied for other activities.
- Both products are gas-powered blowers - gas is a reliable power source which you can refill in a matter of seconds, offering you the freedom of movement to tackle larger outdoor spaces with ease.
- The Stihl BR 700, at 23.4 lbs, is only slightly heavier than the Stihl BR 700 X at 23.1 lbs, so most users should experience very similar comfort and handling from both.
- Both devices maintain a noise level of 75 dB, ensuring they're equally respectful of your neighbors' peace and equally pleasant for you to operate without excessive noise.
CFM & MPH
- The Stihl BR 700 boasts a slightly higher CFM rating of 912 compared to the Stihl BR 700 X (895 CFM), suggesting it may have a slight advantage in leaf-moving power.
- The Stihl BR 700 with an MPH of 197 slightly exceeds the 194 MPH of the Stihl BR 700 X. Thus, in comparison, the former expels air at a slightly higher speed, and should do a better job at blowing leaves on grass or lifting wet leaves and debris (acorns, etc.).
Engine specs
- Both devices have an identical fuel tank size of 47.3 fl.oz. They will therefore require you to refill them at roughly same rates.
- These two products share an engine displacement of 64.8 cc, suggesting they might consume comparable amounts of fuel per stroke, potentially resulting in similar performance outputs. The leaf blowers have a 4-stroke engine. Both feature a Stihl 4-Mix engine design though, and therefore require an oil/fuel mix.
Other features
- Neither the Stihl BR 700 nor the Stihl BR 700 X can vacuum leaves, so you'll need an alternative approach to collect them.

Not a comparison, but question: what the oil to gas ratio?
It sounds like it has a escaping muffler. Where do I take it? It’s only 3 months old.
Oil/gas ratio for the BR 700 is 1:50. To service your unit, you may refer to this page (opens in a new tab) to find your nearest Stihl dealer.
I would get the 700X. Even though it is a little bit less powerful, its not enough to make a difference. What does make a difference is that it is half a pound lighter. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but if you are going to have this thing on your back for hours on end, it helps.
