Feel, Fuel & Noise

As the BR 700 and the BR 700 X are both Stihl blowers, they benefit from the same level of quality and attention to detail.

  • Manufactured as backpack blowers, these two products are equipped with large engines and spacious fuel tanks, offering comfortable carrying while you work. On both products, the throttle is situated on the blower tube, giving you the advantage of having your left hand available for other uses.
  • Both products are gas-powered blowers - gas is a reliable power source which you can refill in a matter of seconds, offering you the freedom of movement to tackle larger outdoor spaces with ease.
  • The Stihl BR 700's 23.4-lb weight is very close to the 23 lbs of the Stihl BR 700 X, meaning comfort, handling, and fatigue should be almost identical between the two.
  • With a noise rating of 75 dB for both devices, you can expect them to be equally considerate of your neighbors and equally comfortable for you to use.

CFM & MPH

  • The Stihl BR 700 boasts a slightly higher CFM rating of 912 compared to the Stihl BR 700 X (901 CFM), suggesting it may have a slight advantage in leaf-moving power.
  • The Stihl BR 700 with an MPH of 197 slightly exceeds the 193 MPH of the Stihl BR 700 X, making it more effective at blowing leaves on grass or lifting wet debris (acorns, etc.).

Engine specs

  • The fuel tank size for both devices is 47.3 fl.oz., ensuring similar refueling requirements for each.
  • Both products boast an engine displacement of 64.8 cc, hinting at similar fuel consumption rates per stroke and potentially yielding comparable performance outcomes. The leaf blowers have a 4-stroke engine. Both feature a Stihl 4-Mix engine design though, and therefore require an oil/fuel mix.

Other features

  • Neither the Stihl BR 700 nor the Stihl BR 700 X has the ability to vacuum leaves. Thus, you will require another method of leaf collection.

  1. Not a comparison, but question: what the oil to gas ratio?
It sounds like it has a escaping muffler. Where do I take it? It’s only 3 months old.

  2. I would get the 700X. Even though it is a little bit less powerful, its not enough to make a difference. What does make a difference is that it is half a pound lighter. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but if you are going to have this thing on your back for hours on end, it helps.
